Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) at the University of Helsinki is the leading genetics and precision medicine research unit in Finland. We are managing petabytes of human genetics and health data, and these datasets will likely increase tenfold in the forthcoming years. We are daily collaborating with top researchers and research institutes in the world and international health-care companies to improve health and well-being on a global scale.

FIMM is now seeking an experienced epidemiologist to have a key role in the expansion of one of the largest research projects in Finland, FinnGen. The FinnGen project is prepared to launch a new effort that aims to recontact up to 200,000 participants to collect detailed information about health status and lifestyle.

Qualification and requirements:

We are looking for an experienced epidemiologist that will take a leading role in the Finngen recontacting study. Tasks include setting up and analyzing questionnaires data, evaluating participation rate, and employ strategies to improve it. The candidate will work closely with the Finnish Biobanks and the FinnGen partners to implement changes in the study protocol. He/She will also be responsible for identifying and implementing tools for reporting aggregate questionnaire results. Because of the highly collaborative nature of this job, effective verbal and written communication skills are required. The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in working with survey or epidemiological data and good knowledge of statistical programming languages such as R or Stata. A doctoral degree and a publication track record are considered a plus. The candidate will closely work with The Data Science and Genetic Epidemiology Lab led by Dr. Andrea Ganna.

Contract & salary:

The job is for a fixed-term of an initial 1 year with a possibility to extend it for three years. A trial period of 6 month will be applied. The starting salary will be ca. 3500 - 4300 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience and including a salary component based on personal performance. Standard Finnish pension benefits and occupational health care are provided for University employees.
