FinnGen’s discoveries pave the way towards precision  medicine

The many research findings made by FinnGen and its partners demonstrate the links between genes and health and increase our understanding of the genetic drivers of human diseases, pinpointing possible targets for therapies.

FinnGen contributes to genetic research on a global scale

FinnGen is committed to sharing its results and communicating about the study and its progress as openly as possible. The summary level results are made openly available for anyone in the world to download and use in their research.  The medical breakthroughs that arise from the project will eventually benefit health care systems and patients globally.

On a national level, FinnGen operates as a network, where researchers of each Finnish partner organisation are supported locally in carrying out research as part of FinnGen.

FinnGen boosts the Finnish health ecosystem

The genome data produced during the project is owned by the Finnish biobanks, and will remain available for research purposes in the future. FinnGen brings together scientists, clinicians and biobanks to work in collaboration to address the big health questions of our era and increases the visibility of Finnish expertise abroad and Finland’s appeal as a partner for industry and international collaboration.
