FinnGen brings together Finnish research organisations and pharmaceutical companies
The FinnGen project is a partnership between fifteen international pharma companies and fifteen Finnish academic/public partners, including Finland’s well-being counties and their university hospitals and biobanks. The research is designed, the goals are determined and the analyses planned in a co-creative manner between industry and academia. Each partner as well as Business Finland have contributed to the funding of the project.
FinnGen’s home organisation is the University of Helsinki
FinnGen is housed by the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland at the University of Helsinki. Most of the 40 people working for the project, including the management and expert teams are employed by the University of Helsinki. Some experts are employees of the biobanks or other Finnish partner universities.
Decisions are made by the FinnGen Steering Committee
The Steering Committee and Scientific Committee oversee the FinnGen study and the Steering Committee is the highest decision-making body. Each partner organisation has a representative in both committees. Read more about the Governance and Committees of FinnGen.
