Data Security

FinnGen research data is stored in a highly secure computing environment called FinnGen Sandbox that provides remote access to the data for approved researchers.

The FinnGen study adheres to the data security standards defined according to level III data protection of the national criteria for security auditing (KATAKRI). All data used in the project are stored in a lawful secure environment that fulfils the requirements defined by the legislation.

The data security of the FinnGen computing environment has been audited and the data secure environment fulfils the FinData regulations, which are based on the Act on the Secondary Use of Health and Social Data (552/2019). The FinnGen computing environment was included in the public database of secondary-use environments (Toini), which is kept by Valvira 29.4.2022.
